WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF VIRTUAL REHABILIATION
Department of Physiotherapy Therapy
What is Virtual Physiotherapy?
Virtual Physiotherapy also known as tele-rehabilitation, is the delivery of professional physiotherapy services at a distance, through the use of health technologies.
Virtual practice relates to all aspects of patient care including the patient interview, physical assessment and diagnosis, treatment, maintenance activities, consultation, education, and training. It can include the use of media such as videoconferencing, email, apps, web-based communication, and wearable technology.
Virtual rehabilitation has limitations compared to an in-person encounter such as the inability to perform a hands-on examination, assessment and treatment. It is up to you and the physiotherapist to determine if virtual rehabilitation will work for you based on your condition, available technology and other risks/benefits. We encourage that you book your free consultation to discuss if Virtual Care Rehab is right for you.
What types of physiotherapy services can be provided virtually:
• Education + Safety
• Exercise instructions and progressions
• Education on self manual treatments/maneuvers as appropriate
• Pain management techniques
• Advisement of equipment needs and purchase
